Bus travel is just the ticket for youth today

TAKING a bus never really appealed me, on the basis of two's company, a bus is a crowd and was often a noisy monster packed tighter than an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.

It can't be much fun either for a bus driver, who spends most of his life with people talking behind his back.

However, things have moved on since the four-wheeled hackney coaches, the omnibus, the charabanc and the double-decker to some quite comfortable coaches.

It's a pity we have lost the ticket-collector shuffling through the body of the bus - you really had to hand it to them.
