KHALAVHA village, the ancestral home of President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, witnessed a historic day last Saturday as the new traditional leader, Vhamusanda Mirri i a Vhavha Tshivhase, was officially inaugurated during a ceremony held at Jack Lavhengwa Secondary School sports ground.

- SILAS NDUVHENI

Although President Ramaphosa was unable to attend due to a packed schedule, he sent his respects and support through Vhamusanda Livhuwani Matsila and Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, who delivered a message and gifts on his behalf.

The president gifted four stud cattle including two bulls and two heifers, infused with prized Ankole genetics, as a traditional gesture of support. He also sent an undisclosed amount of cash as a token of respect for the cultural institution and leadership of the Venda people.

"This is a sign of respect for the culture and tradition of the Venda people who honour their leaders with blessings and support," said Matsila.
