The Telangana unit of the ST Morcha has launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led state government, accusing it of insulting the dignity of Telangana women during a recent event at the historic Ramappa Temple in Mulugu district. Kotha Surender, the State General Secretary of the ST Morcha, condemned the Congress government's handling of the Miss World contestants’ visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site. He alleged that the Congress administration allowed local women to offer towels and wash the feet of foreign participants — a move he termed as a "deep insult" to the self-respect of Telangana women.

"While welcoming the Miss World contestants with traditional decorations is acceptable, making Telangana women wash their feet is a disgrace to our culture. This is not our tradition. Which custom allows such an act?" Su-render asked, expressing outrage at what he described as a humiliation of Telangana's customs and values. He pointed out that while it is customary for devotees to wash their feet before entering temple sanctums, the act of washing someone else's feet — particularly in a religious and cultural context
