Residents shoot suspects in housebreakings

TWO housebreaking suspects have been shot dead by residents in two separate incidents in the Western Cape in a matter of days.

At the latest incident, which took place on the corner of Schaap Road and 15th Avenue, a robber was apparently shot dead by a resident after he pulled out a knife during a housebreaking attempt on October 6.

A crime fighter, who works closely with the police and who was at the scene but could not be identified due to safety concerns, said the robber had been armed with a knife.

Police said they did not have a record of the incident when asked by the Cape Argus.
