Police officer gunned down outside his home

POLICE have launched a manhunt for the suspects who killed a sergeant in Vrygrond, Muizenberg, during the early hours of Friday.
Residents were shocked at the discovery of the 48-year-old police officer who was found gunned down next to his vehicle outside his home at around 5am.
He was in uniform and on his way to report for duty at Wynberg SAPS.
Police spokesperson, Andrè Traut, said the Hawks have been assigned to lead the investigation.
"At approximately 5am, the body of the 48-year-old police sergeant was discovered outside his home in Thys Witbooi Street, Vrygrond. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds," said Traut.
