CABINET RESHUFFLE

- THEOLIN TEMBO and BRANDON NEL

AS FARMERS are cheering the news that John Steenhuisen has been put out to pasture as agriculture minister, political analysts have said that DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis, who made the cut, was carving out his own lane, and making sure people deliver on their promise of “the DA difference”.

Early yesterday, Hill-Lewis announced that he wrote to President Ramaphosa setting out several changes to the DA’ representation in Cabinet.

The changes include: Willie Aucamp to replace John Steenhuisen as Minister of Agriculture; and Western Cape Education MEC David Maynier to take up the position of minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
