Chase leads to arrest of hijacking suspect

A 45-YEAR-OLD man was apprehended during a dramatic high speed chase in Bonteheuwel after he was caught red-handed with the vehicle he had allegedly hijacked in Parow.

Police are hunting for the second suspect.The suspect also sustained a gunshot wound during the mayhem.
Police spokesperson, Constable Ndakhe Gwala explained what had transpired on Tuesday.
"This office confirms that Bishop Lavis Police arrested a 45-year-old male suspect for attempted murder. The police were called to a scene in Justicia Street, Bonteheuwel, where they found a charcoal Suzuki Baleno that had been hijacked in Parow Valley yesterday afternoon, January 6," Gwala said.
"The suspect was apprehended by metro police after a high-speed chase and crossfire. According to reports, he was with a second suspect who fled on foot. Police observed that the suspect sustained gunshot wounds on his left hip and right knee.
