Cars towed from beauty spot as campervan causes delays for bus passengers

CARS were towed from a Gwynedd beauty spot that was left creaking under the weight of day-trippers.

Heatwave conditions prompted an exodus from the cities and many headed to Bala to cool off by Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales.

Scores of cars were reported to be parked illegally on the lake's Llangower shoreline on Saturday. Residential driveways were said to be blocked and farmers struggled to reach their fields. Problems also continued with the car park closed as it was full.

More problems arose on Saturday when a campervan parked in a local bus turning area. It left Lloyds Coaches warning of “significant delays” on the T3C service to and from Llanuwchllyn in Eryri National Park.

Early signs of trouble came with a mid-morning warning from North Wales Police that a lakeside car park by the town’s leisure centre had been closed as it was full. Visitors were asked to find parking spots away from the lake and, such was the congestion, drivers were advised to avoid the area.
