India Urges Both Countries to Avoid Escalatory Steps

India on Friday expressed its deep concern over the recent developments between Iran and Israel, and said that it was monitoring the evolving situation, including reports related to attacks on nuclear sites.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said "India urges both sides to avoid any escalatory steps". Existing channels of dialogue and diplomacy should be utilized to work towards a de-escalation of the situation and resolving underlying issues, it said. India enjoys close and friendly relations with both the countries, and stands ready to extend all possible support, the MEA added.

The Indian missions in both Iran and Israel are in contact with the Indian community. The MEA and the respective embassies of India in Tehran and Tel Aviv have advised all Indian nationals in the region to stay safe, exercise caution, and follow local security advisories.
