Broader markets mirror festival mood with over 300 Nifty 500 stocks above 200-DMA
Markets appear ready for a pre-Diwali rally, with 72 per cent of Nifty 50 stocks (36 scrips) and 63 per cent of Nifty 500 stocks (314 scrips) trading above their respective 200-day moving averages (200-DMAs).
The 200-DMA is widely considered a key indicator of long-term market trends. A stock or index trading above this level is typically seen as being in a bullish phase, while those below it are considered bearish.
At the index level, the Nifty 50, currently at 25,088, is 4 per cent above its 200-DMA of 24,128. The Nifty 500, at 23,210, is trading 4.4 per cent above its 200-DMA, data shows. Both indices have been consistently quoting above their200-DMAs since May 12, 2025.
