STAFFORDSHIRE SECOND WORST FOR HIGH SPEEDERS ACROSS UK

NEARLY 200 drivers hit speeds of at least 112mph on Staffordshire's roads in the space of one year.

New figures show that 196 motorists exceeded 112mph in the county during the past 12 months.

This was the second highest number in the whole country, possibly due to the M6 cutting through Staffordshire.

Nationally, one driver is caught travelling at 112mph or more every six hours on average.

The data, published by Volvo Car UK, follows a Freedom of Information request. Since 2020, every Volvo car made has been fitted with a 112mph electronic speed limiter.
