INJURED BLACKETT-TAYLOR LEAVES A GAP ON FLANKS

- By LEIGH CURTIS

IT is going to take some time before we see Derby County at full strength, chiefly due to injuries, while others lack full match sharpness.

Seven players look set to miss the return of former Rams boss Frank Lampard and his Coventry City team to Pride Park Stadium today (12.30pm), with Corey Blackett-Taylor the latest to be sidelined.

No further issues were reported after Tuesday's dramatic Carabao Cup penalty shootout win over West Bromwich Albion, which booked the Rams a second-round tie away against Premier League Burnley.

Carlton Morris, Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, Matt Clarke, Ryan Nyambe, and Liam Thompson will all return to the squad for the Rams’ Championship clash today after being rested in midweek, giving head coach John Eustace further options for the Sky Blues’ visit.

Perhaps Eustace’s biggest issue is what he does to replace Blackett-Taylor, given that there is not really a recognised winger as a backup.

Bobby Clark could be an option, having played on the left-hand side in midweek but he is still working his way back to full match fitness.

The 65 minutes he played against West Brom did him the power of good but it may well be that he is not ready to play a full 90 just yet.
