Kevin completes 30-mile walk in memory of gran

GROUP TREK FROM BIRMINGHAM TO BURTON AND RAISE £2,500 FOR CARE HOME RESIDENTS

A SECURITY guard, football coach and support worker has completed an epic 30-mile walking challenge to raise money in honour of his grandmother.

Kevin James walked from Birmingham to Burton to raise money for the residents of Amber House Residential Home, on Needwood Street in Burton.

The walk, in honour of Kevin's grandmother Florence, right, has raised nearly £2,500, which will be spent on taking the home's residents on a trip to Skegness.

Kevin said he wanted to raise the money after Florence, who has dementia, fell victim to financial abuse as a result of the condition.

He said: "I decided to do a fundraising walk that will raise enough money to take residents from an old people's home to the seaside and pay for fish and chips for them and their carers.
