BREWERS boss Gary Bowyer is braced for another 'unbelievably difficult game' this Boxing Day.

- By DAN NEWBOULD

Kevin Nolan's Northampton Town visit and Bowyer knows only too well about the challenge having seen them in the flesh recently.

He explained: “I went to watch them last Friday night (a 3-1 win over AFC Wimbledon) and again that’s going to be another unbelievably difficult game. Their manager has done a wonderful job there so we fully know what to expect and we've got to step up and be counted again.

“From now until the end of the season every game is going to be tough. The players are pushing each other and they were very good looking after Sully on his debut on the actual day, signing his shirt, giving him his shirt, the messages that were written on there just shows how much they care for each other and that’s massively important to me.”

Meanwhile, Bowyer has been reflecting on his first year at the helm of Burton Albion and the memories that will last him a lifetime.

Bowyer was appointed back on December 17 last year with the club firmly in a relegation battle but he kept them up against the odds and is in pole position to do the same again this year from a much healthier position.
