Dylan finds ideal moment to score first goal and win it for the Brewers

A stoppage-time winner from Dylan Williams, who had a marvellous game, sealed victory after the visitors had scored a late equaliser.

The game had two sendings-off in first-half stoppage time, one for each side, and the Brewers led until deep into the second half through a brilliant Jon Dadi Bodvarsson strike.

The result relegated Cambridge and only a massive swing in goal difference could send Burton down now, even if they were to lose their last two matches.

It has been a monumental effort since Gary Bowyer took charge in December arguably the most impressive of Albion's three narrow escapes in recent seasons.

Burton made one change for the game and it was a welcome one for supporters, Bodvarsson returning to the starting line-up in place of Julian Larsson, who could consider himself a little unfortunate.

The game began with Burton knowing the Bristol Rovers had lost in the lunchtime kick-off against Reading, meaning they started with two games in hand and level on points with the Gas.

The Brewers opened on the front foot and had the first free kick in the second minute when Williams was tripped as he cut in from the right.

It led to the first corner, on the left, Owen Dodgson taking both. But the corner was cleared and play stopped with two Cambridge players down after a clash of heads.

It was the eighth minute before Cambridge mounted an attack, which Burton repelled comfortably.

And the Brewers had a free kick 22 yards out in the 12th minute when Bodvarsson was tripped as he collected a pass from JJ McKiernan.

Dodgson went for goal with a low effort that Jack Stevens pushed away at full stretch to his left before an off-side flag halted play.

Cambridge had a spell of possession around the 18th minute but Burton stood firm and Max Crocombe's goal was not threatened.
