'Demand for help in county far exceeds funding provided'

COUNTY COUNCIL PROJECTS WILL AIM TO BOOST SUPPORT GIVEN TO CHILDREN WITH SEND
THE support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is being increased by Staffordshire County Council.
The authority says it is accelerating work on delayed Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments, and expanding early-stage support in mainstream schools in an effort to assist families sooner and prevent needs from escalating.
Around £500,000 has been invested in providing additional staff to target delays in agreeing EHCPS, particularly in completing educational psychology reports.
Having begun in September, the team is on target to clear almost 300 overdue assessments by Christmas.
