Trump tariffs: Ramaphosa and the ANC-led government failed South Africa

AfriForum holds President Cyril Ramaphosa and his ANC-led government directly responsible for die 30% tariff that US President Donald Trump announced on Monday on imports from South Africa.

Die organisasie meen dat Ramaphosa en sy regering valslik probeer het om die VSA se kommer as gevolg van waninligting af te wys toe hulle eerder die VSA se kommer moes erken en aktief opgelos het. Volgens AfriForum pluk die land nou die bitter vrugte van die regering se versuim om dit te doen.
Die tarief tree op 1 Augustus in werking. Dit is vir 90 dae opgeskort om vir onderhandelinge voorsiening te maak. Ramaphosa en die ANC-geleide regering het egter die grasietydperk van 90 dae verkwis en geen vordering gemaak om die diplomatieke krisis met die Trump-administrasie op te los nie. Die burgerregte-organisasie beweer verder dat diegene wat die ANC se valse narratief help bevorder en die uitlig van kritieke kwessies in die betrekkinge tussen die VSA en Suid-Afrika as die verspreiding van “waninligting” afgemaak het, ook medepligtig is aan hierdie krisis.
