FAMILY say they've 'lost everything' after their 35-year-old home was destroyed in a suspected gas explosion at their neighbour's house.

'We've lost everything' Friends set up fundraiser to help family rebuild

Rich Cainey and his parents Rob and Deb, both 60, lost their family home on Lancaster Road, Yate, to a devastating blast in the early morning of April 29.

The level of destruction means it is going to have to be knocked down and rebuilt.

Rich said the specialist team told him the whole house will be demolished and rebuilt within 18 months.

But the family fled empty-handed, with Rich adding the only belongings to his name are what he brought with him after the explosion - his underwear and mobile phone.

Rich and his family are currently living in a family’s house in Yate but are hoping to move into a rental property by the end of next week.

He has also lost his car due to the blast - but his friends have set up a GoFundMe fundraising page to help the family rebuild their lives.

The 35-year-old, who works as a repair worker for Airbus, said: “Every day is different stress and a different worry.
