Tourist Gold... now come and discover the True Bristol

They say you should never meet your idols but, as Ellie Kendall discovers, reading about their visit to your home town can prove even more disappointing...
As I sit writing this, there is quite ironically a signed photo in a frame of Martin Kemp on the shelf behind me.
The Spandau Ballet bassist and East-Enders star is probably best known nowadays as being the famous dad of podcast, TV and radio host, Roman Kemp - but in my house he'll always be the tartan clad 80s music heartthrob, or Eastenders bad guy Steve Owen, depending on what mood we're in.
So I was excited when I saw a recent article in a national newspaper to say that Martin had visited my hometown, and also disappointed I couldn't have shown him around our magnificent city myself. While clearly in cahoots with Great Western Railway, The Times article saw Martin explore the more iconic and touristy places in Bristol in what was dubbed "a rail mini break"
And it was all far too obvious for my liking - it was almost as if Martin had never seen a bridge before, or never set foot in Bristol before GWR convinced him to do so.
And, Spandau career aside, where they reportedly played in the likes of the Bristol Hippodrome in the 80s, we know fully well that he's no stranger to the city - he played a 'Back to the 80s' DJ set here in May of this year.
