HERE are many good things about being retired, or in my case, being, sort of retired. Means you get to live in a land where the phrase "last of the summer wine" actually makes perfect sense. A land where it's OK to hang out with your mates, acting like some sort of ancient teenage boy band, getting up to pointless mischief. Best thing is, there are no parents, teachers or busybodies telling you to grow up and behave. Sigh. Happy days.

It also means you don't have to hurry anymore. Those days are gone. Now that children have grown, mortgages have been paid off and work deadlines are no more than a distant memory from a foreign land, everything changes. Sort of.
