VOICES OF THE WEST COUNTRY
-
IT'S amazing what happens if you shave all the hair off your head, you know. For a start, you need a hat. Right away. Without one, your head either freezes or gets sunburnt.
The first time I ever shaved my head was years ago, back when I was sort of famous and a bit of a familiar face. I was at some star-studded showbiz party with Mrs Cullimore, which was the sort of thing we used to do back then. Anyway, after some mingling and munching I found myself chatting to a bright young man who was a famous singer and also, famously bald. It turned out, he might have had a great voice but he wasn't actually bald at all. His apparent hair loss was all down to the fact that he shaved his head every day, which was news to me.
So naturally, I got to asking questions about how he did it. How he managed to shave his entire head all by himself. It didn't take long for him to offer to show me. At which point space was cleared in the kitchen. Hmm... just remembered that even star-studded showbiz parties have kitchens. Which is quite strange now I come to think of it. Anyway, space was cleared, a razor was produced and I was instructed in the gentle art of head shaving for beginners.
