Fly-tipping crackdown pledged

BRISTOL City Council has revealed it has received 15,000 reports of fly-tipping in the past 10 months - a shocking 50 a day.
Incidents range from small - but annoying - bags of rubbish left in the street to massive dumps such as that uncovered in Kings Weston Lane in Avonmouth last November.
The council has pledged to crack down on the problem and this week announced it would be investing a further £350,000 on tackling the issue.
Councillor Martin Fodor, chair of the environment and sustainability committee, said: "Fly-tipping is a crime that the council takes extremely seriously. It blights our neighbourhoods, damages our environment, and costs the city valuable resources to clear up.
