Cricket Lewis thrilled by his career-best haul in victory

LEFT-ARM spinner Lewis Goldsworthy claimed career-best figures of 4-13 as Somerset gained revenge for defeat by arch-rivals Gloucestershire in last year's Vitality Blast with a six-wicket South Group victory at Bristol.

- By RICHARD LATHAM

A derby crowd of more than 6,000 saw the hosts post a disappointing 135-7 after losing the toss. Skipper Jack Taylor top-scoredwith 43 not out from 29 balls and Goldsworthy took three wickets in an over to rip the heart out of the Gloucestershire batting.

It looked a straightforward target for the unbeaten group leaders and they duly made it five wins from as many games. Will Smeed scored 51 not out as they reached 137-4 with 14 balls to spare.

Somerset's man-of-the-match Goldsworthy, pictured, said: "I have had a few problems bowling at Taunton in the early games so it was great to come here and get some wickets.

"The pitch was a bit tacky and some catches went to hand after we had bowled well up front in the early overs. I tried to bowl a hard length on that wicket and vary my pace.

"The slower you bowled it, the harder it was to hit. I managed to figure that out as I went along."

Gloucestershire skipper Jack Taylor said: "We were short with the bat. They bowled really well, but in hindsight 150 or 160 would have made it a different game.
