Clean-up Dad and son clear 19 trolleys and 16 bags of rubbish from river

NINETEEN supermarket trolleys, two TVs and an electric scooter were found dumped in a Hartcliffe river in just one morning.

A father and son made the discovery after taking part in a litter picking initiative in Bristol.

Mark Rowlands and his son Declan, 24, collected 16 bags of rubbish along with the trolleys and more from a river during a cleanup in Hartcliffe.

Mark, who works as a sales director and lives in Easter Compton, told the Post: "During a single morning in Hartcliffe all of this came from a short stretch of river, showing just how quickly waste can build up when it's left unchecked. Once we finished, I reported the bags of litter and waste to Bristol Waste who will come and collect it.

"Separately, I reported the supermarket trolleys via the Trolleywise app and electric vehicles to WestBike. I was joined on this cleanup by my son Declan. He wanted to get involved after seeing firsthand how much rubbish had built up in the area when we visited earlier in the year and collected 15 bags of rubbish."
