Clashes Three arrests as 'minority' resort to violence at day of protest

THREE people were arrested yesterday as anti-immigration protesters were met once again by counter-protesters on the city's streets.
Police created 'protest zones' for the opposing groups
Huge lines of police officers were deployed to keep the rival groups apart - with police voicing frustration as they said counter-protesters failed to keep to their designated "protest zones" aimed at giving both sides the chance to demonstrate peacefully.
Police estimated up to 100 anti-immigration "Bristol Patriot" protesters had gathered yesterday with up to 400 counter-protesters also assembling at The Centre.
Each group had been given a designated "protest zone" by police, but the counter-protesters "failed to abide by these conditions".
Around 250 counter-protesters were enclosed by police on The Centre while another smaller group of mainly masked counter-protesters, some wearing the Palestinian keffiyeh scarf and flying the flag, stood outside the Hippodrome.
