Empty homes policy coming into force

SOUTH and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership recognised National Empty Homes Week 2026, which ran from Monday, March 9 to Sunday, March 15, by highlighting the important role empty homes can play in meeting local housing needs in light of its newly approved Empty Homes Policy 2026-2029, which will come into force on April 1.

Empty homes continue to be an increasing issue both locally and nationally, with long-term empty properties now at their highest levels since 2010. At a time of significant housing need, empty properties represent a wasted resource and a missed opportunity to provide much-needed accommodation for residents.
