U3A talk on Strand

In the words of Helderberg U3A's upcoming May speaker: “This...is an invitation to journey alongside the currents of time, to explore the intricate layers of the Strand's history, and to discover the threads that have woven its unique identity.”

On Wednesday May 7, at 10am at the Dutch Reformed Church Helderberg, 82 Firmount Road (off Old Stellenbosch Road), Somerset West, well-known, affable, sometime writer/architect, Danie Pienaar, will take the audience on a journey into the heart of the Strand.

Danie's roots in the Strand are deep. Although he was born in the then Southern Rhodesia, his family moved to the Strand in 1955, where Danie has lived ever since.

He was in the first Sub-A class of the new Lochnerhof Primary School, and also in the first Standard 6 class of Strand High School, to start in the new school building.

Danie's working career started in the town planning department of the Strand Municipality.
