RNLI chief sees lifeboat crews in rescue drama

Blackpool RNLI volunteers were called into action after a person was reported in difficulty in the sea in Bispham.
The alarm was raised near Red Bank Road at around 6.10pm on Wednesday, prompting the launch of the Atlantic 85 lifeboat, closely followed by the D-class lifeboat.
The Atlantic crew found the person around 200m offshore and provided first aid before transferring the casualty to the smaller D-class lifeboat to be taken back a waiting ambulance onshore.
