Blackpool Gazette
|November 20, 2025
A 39-year-old cyclist was fatally injured after being struck by a van as he crossed the A6 at Catterall.
Preston Coroner's Court heard that Grant Sandiford, of The Parklands, Catterall, was riding his bike at night without lights and was dressed in dark clothing.
The van driver told police that he never saw the cyclist, who was wearing a head torch.
Area coroner Emma Mather recorded a conclusion of death by road traffic collision.
He was involved in a collision with a van on the A6 at Catterall on Saturday, January 25, this year.
Mr Sandiford, who was not wearing a helmet, died in Royal Preston Hospital four days later.
