Life-saving interventions up on railways

Latest figures show nearly a 20 per cent rise in the number of lifesaving interventions to prevent people from coming to harm on the railway between London and the North West.

In Network Rail's North West and Central region, 531 lifesaving interventions were made in 2024/25 compared to 443 in 2023/24 - an increase of 19.8 per cent.
Nationally the number of lifesaving interventions on Britain's rail network rose by 18 per cent.
