The Irvines seem to have it all. With money, success and a stable family unit, they are living the American Dream and have a white picket fence to prove it.

- Jennifer Cartwright on All Her Fault

Domestic bliss turns to terror – and every parent's nightmare

However, they don't realise their dream is soon to become a never-ending nightmare when their five-year-old son is kidnapped.

All Her Fault begins with a seemingly innocuous ring of a doorbell.

Our middle-class mom Marissa (Sarah Snook) has arrived to pick up her son Milo (Duke McCloud) from a playdate. She's followed directions given over text and is certain she is at the right address.

But when the door opens, there is no child or fellow parent behind it, only a confused stranger with no idea who Marissa is.

Panic ensues. Snook delivers a masterful performance as a mother consumed by fear for her child.

On the doorstep, you can feel the exact moment her stomach drops through the TV screen and happiness is replaced by anger and worry in just a moment.

Her words move so quickly you'll think you're watching the drama in fast forward in this performance which is true to the life of any petrified parent.

It'll take eight episodes to figure out exactly what happened to Milo and why. During that time, Marissa will look as if she has aged a decade.
