SOLIHULL is the worst hotspot for vehicle crime in the West Midlands, new police figures have revealed.

There were 12.43 crimes were reported per 1,000 residents in the year ending September 2024 - the highest vehicle crime rate in the West Midlands.

It prompted Meriden and Solihull East MP Saqib Bhatti to write to West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster about the concerning issue, which he branded "unacceptable."

Solihull experienced almost twice as much vehicle crime as the second worst similar area, Bedford, which had a vehicle crime rate of 7.06 and almost six times as much as the least affected similar area, Adur, which had a vehicle crime rate of 2.22.

It comes as more than 300 stolen vehicles worth £3 million have been recovered by West Midlands Police in less than a year.
