Hockley Social Club to shut for good on New Year's Eve

'All good things come to an end' as venue closes

A STREET food and live events venue launched during the pandemic as a takeaway service has announced it will close down at the end of this year.

Hockley Social Club, close to Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, will shut its doors for good on New Year's Eve after five years of trading.

The company behind the venture, Digbeth Dining Club, has not given a firm reason for the decision, other than to say "all good things must come to an end".

It said it was now looking forward to opening a new venue in the Black Country, details of which have not yet been revealed, but stressed this was unconnected to the decision to close Hockley Social Club.

The majority of jobs will be redeployed to other parts of the business and its Herbert's Yard venue in Longbridge and partnership with the Comedy at the Castle event at Warwick Castle are both unaffected.

It will also carry out its summer tour of around 40 different locations as planned.
