Villa boss is the man on a wire!

T looks likely that Liverpool will be crowned Premier League champions when they play Tottenham at Anfield this weekend.

Villa boss is the man on a wire!

Having said that, if Arsenal lose at home to Crystal Palace tonight then it is Liverpool's title with five games to go.

However, over at Villa Park all eyes are on a top-five finish to secure a place in next season's Champions League.

With Liverpool guaranteed and Arsenal all-but guaranteed, it leaves five teams in the hunt for the remaining three places.

At the time of writing, Unai Emery's team are seventh on 57 points, three behind third-placed Forest, two behind fourth-placed Newcastle, one behind fifth-placed Manchester City, and level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea.

Villa were at City last night knowing a win would lift them up to fourth, while a draw would jump them a place to sixth.

So, definitely no end-of-season feel about Villa's remaining games - Fulham and Spurs at home with trips to Bournemouth and Manchester United. This chase is going down to the wire.

West Brom are searching for a new boss after parting company with Tony Mowbray following Monday's 3-1 home defeat to Derby. The loss condemned them to another season in the Championship.

He had 17 games and 93 days to change the playing philosophy while games were coming thick and fast. I thought he should have been allowed a close season to get his message across to the players and with a few new faces in the squad.

Tony knows only too well he is accountable for results, however, the responsibility for not winning also lies firmly with the players.

Whoever is appointed will need to change some of the squad or they will eventually become another casualty.
