RUSSELL WATSON TALKS EMPERORS, ELVIS AND RUNAWAY ALPACAS WITH MARTIN HUTCHINSON AS HE PREPARES TO MARK THE SILVER ANNIVERSARY OF HIS BREAKTHROUGH ALBUM
-
CHERISHED British tenor Russell Watson is celebrating 25 years since the release of his groundbreaking debut album, The Voice, with a UK tour.
Recognised as one of the UK’s most accomplished classical recording artists, Russell will be performing some fan favourites including Va Pensiero, Nessun Dorma, Caruso and Faith Of The Heart (from Star Trek: Enterprise), plus new songs Shine and Grow Old.
The Voice topped the charts and sold over a million copies in the UK, a feat no other classical artist has matched. It was no.1 in the classical charts for a record-breaking 52 weeks.
Since then, Russell's many albums have accumulated seven million sales, he’s won four Classical BRIT awards and collaborated with legends such as Paul McCartney, Luciano Pavarotti and Lionel Richie.
He has also performed for some of the world’s most distinguished figures, including Queen Elizabeth Il, King Charles, Pope John Paul II, three US presidents, and royalty from Japan to Malaysia.
Russell even remembers discussing Manchester United with the Emperor of Japan.
