'Killers destroyed my life as well as my partner's'
Birmingham Mail
|April 29, 2025
A MUM said her life had been destroyed after her boyfriend and father of her child was murdered 'from a walk in the park'.
Michael Obasi was brutally robbed and beaten to death at Perry Hall Park on March 14 last year, by a group of three men and three teenagers.
The 38-year-old, whose body was not discovered until two days later, grew up near the beauty spot and was walking through after visiting his mother on the night he was attacked.
Yesterday, as his killers were jailed for nearly 120 years, Mr Obasi’s partner bravely took to the stand at Birmingham Crown Court to face them.
She said: “Michael was my life partner, future husband, best friend and beautiful father for my son.
“Michael was my everything. He and my son were my whole world. We had our whole life ahead of us.
“We had so many plans to buy our own home, travel, get married, grow old together. All ripped away from me in one evening, all from a walk in the park.
