TOO MANY HELD BACK BY THINKING THEY CAN RELY ON BENEFITS, SAYS CHARITY

Inspiring team working hard to get women jobs

CHILDREN in Birmingham are growing up in 'third generation unemployed' families believing they 'don't have to work and can rely on benefits, a charity boss has revealed.

Ann Powell, manager at unemployment charity SmartWorks, said some young people have 'never known of anyone working' and are, in some cases, being 'held back' by their family's views, said.

In Birmingham, the unemployment rate is on the rise, with more and more young people claiming benefits.

But a team is helping women break the cycle of benefits and pursue a different life through work.
