Improvements to child services are 'near end phase'

WORK to improve children’s social care in Solihull is nearing the ‘end phase’ ahead of a service inspection, councillors were told.
Solihull Council’s services were judged inadequate in 2022 following the high-profile killing of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes two years earlier.
Six-year-old Arthur died at the hands of his father Thomas Hughes and stepmother Emma Tustin, who were jailed for manslaughter and murder respectively at Coventry Crown Court.
Tustin murdered the boy by causing a fatal head injury at her home on June 16, 2020.
Speaking at the latest children’s services and education scrutiny board meeting, council deputy leader Cllr Karen Grinsell - the lead member for children and education - said:
