'I thought our family had had its share of trauma'

A TRAGIC son and father died eight years to the day of each other - each succumbing to a sudden cardiac arrest.

Now the story of teenager Myles Christie is being shared his story in a powerful video.

Family footage and images of Myles have been featured in the British Heart Foundation (BHF) video, which focuses on how he dreamt of a career in teaching before his life was tragically cut short aged just 15.

Myles’ mum, Hayley Verdi, found her son face down in his bedroom in May 2023.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics and doctors at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Myles was pronounced dead a short time later.

In a heartbreaking twist of fate, he died eight years to the day that his dad, Alden, lost his life.

Hayley, from Wheaton Aston, Staffordshire, said: “Myles was very mature and laid back. He was a beautiful, calm soul with a smile that lit up the room.
