Huge 850-home plan for protected green belt fields

A HUGE new estate of 850 homes could be built on protected green belt north of Birmingham.

Developer IM Land and Walton Homes wants to transform fields off Queslett Road between Doe Bank Lane and Aldridge Road, near Sutton Park, into a new 'neighbourhood'.

The fields are within the Great Barr Conservation Area and come under Walsall Council’s jurisdiction. The land has conservation protection because the boundaries are date back to the 18th century. But the plans would see 80 per cent of the protected area lost.
