Housing boss says councillors share the residents' concerns

THERE are currently more than 9,000 supported exempt properties in the city, housing more than 30,000 people together.

Those deemed 'hard to house' who qualify for a place include people fleeing abuse, care leavers, those with mental health issues, ex-prisoners and people on probation, and people with addictions.

But the number of places already open in Birmingham, concentrated in poorer areas of the city, far exceeds local need.
