DIWALI MELA ORGANISERS CITE SAFETY CONCERNS AND LAW CHANGE
THE Birmingham Diwali Mela 2025 has been postponed amid ‘safety fears’ just days before the event.
Organisers issued a statement ahead of the popular festival which would have featured music, rides, and fireworks in Soho Road, Handsworth this Sunday.
They say they must “prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all potential attendees as highlighted by the recent attack in Manchester” where two people were killed in a knife attack at a synagogue last week.
The Soho Road BID team said that “every possible avenue was explored in the effort to host this event”
