CHRIS Davies rates Jay Stansfield as one of England's best young talents and believes Birmingham City's main man is on track for senior international caps.

- By ALEX DICKEN

Stansfield has made a flying start to the Championship season with six goals and two assists in 13 matches plus a match-winning strike in the cup against Sheffield United.

The striker has scored 43 goals in 106 games for Blues since initially joining on loan from Fulham in 2023, a move that was made permanent for a club-record fee last year.

In addition to his League One winners' medal, Stansfield spearheaded England under-21s' charge to European Championship glory over the summer and continues to reach new heights.

Stansfield's latest star turn came against Millwall on Tuesday where he scored one, created one and generally ran the Lions ragged.

"Before I came he was the best player at the club, then we managed to get him back and he was outstanding in League One," Blues manager Davies said.

"He's gone to England (under-21s) and been their best striker and changed the tournament around for them really.
