EIGHT-WEEK-OLD TRIO A 'SIGNIFICANT STEP' TOWARDS SURVIVAL OF SPECIES

THREE adorable lion cubs born at West Midland Safari Park have been exploring their new enclosure under the watchful eye of their mum.

The three African lions were born to 12-year-old Amber on April 13.

Now, aged eight weeks, the youngsters have had their first health check, confirming their sexes as two boys and a girl. They have been named Nero, Nox and Nancy, in keeping with the park’s theme of giving every newborn this year a name beginning N.

The births are being hailed as a “significant” step towards the survival of the species, as lions are classed as ‘vulnerable’ in the wild by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

Senior carnivore keeper Shauna Jenkins said, “Amber has been a fantastic mother after giving birth to her three cubs.
