Council stands firm on 'sham' plan for HMOs

A BUILDER who renovated two homes without planning permission won't be allowed to turn them into houses of multiple occupation (HMOs).

Richard Arnold submitted a retrospective application to Solihull planners for the properties, in Castle Bromwich.

The building, in The Green, had previously one property which was used as housing and offices, but Mr Arnold converted it into a pair of semidetached homes

After a public consultation, the council has ruled that although he will not face enforcement action, he won't be allowed to turn them into a 12-bed HMO.

The consultation resulted in 19 objections, including one from Cllr Alan Feeney (Con, Castle Bromwich).
