Council exec asks women to 'speak up' about safety

A BIRMINGHAM City Council director has urged women in the city to “speak up” as the battle against Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) continues.

Waqar Ahmed, the council’s assistant director of community safety and resilience, stated Birmingham City Council is doing its “utmost best” to ensure that not only do “women feel safer in the city - but they don’t have to worry about safety”.
