Chelsea are top Trumps as they cash in with Club World Cup win

MONEY! A huge payday nearly comparable to a Premier League season! That's what Chelsea picked up by winning the inaugural Club World Cup final in the 29-plus degree heat of New Jersey. They finished with £90.1 million.

Chelsea are top Trumps as they cash in with Club World Cup win

Wow! Good news for the Financial Play law!

But on top of that, they beat Paris St Germain who were the best team in Europe and won the European Champions League by beating Inter-Milan 5-0 in the final and had beaten England's top teams on he way, including our champions Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Chelsea played brilliantly and with amazing energy considering both the heat and the long English season. They scored three in the first half and defended brilliantly.

There were 81,000 in the Metlife Stadium, which is the home of both the NFL sides New York Jets and New York Giants. It is also where next year’s football World Cup final will be staged.

They included NFL legend and Birmingham City investor Tom Brady and the US President Donald Trump. It is the biggest NFL arena.

It is a strange new FIFA competition for me played at the end of our season instead of the beginning, when most European teams travel extensively for warm-up preseason friendlies.

FIFA are trying to keep Trump happy, no doubt, by staging it in the USA where a lot of next year’s World Cup will be held.

Indeed, President Trump did the cup and medal presentations. Tiffany's designed the trophy so no expense spared.

This competition suffered from electrical storms which occur in several States.

Holdups were frequent as they may be next summer.
