Boy racer avoids jail after hitting 80mph in front of crowds

A STREET racer has narrowly avoided prison after police observed him racing on the Black Country's streets.

Oskar Arif, aged 22, raced other cars from the M6 Junction 7 roundabout in Great Barr to Kenrick Way, in West Bromwich.

He was among a group of drivers recorded hitting speeds of at least 90mph along the motorway, undertaking cars and showing generally poor standards of driving.

Arif was then captured racing at speeds of at least 80mph along Kenrick Way, which has a 40mph limit, in front of spectators watching at the side of the road. He was seen undertaking another vehicle near to where the spectators were standing.

Arif was arrested in Holly Lane, Smethwick, in the early hours on November 16.
