FORMER BROS FRONTMAN MATT GOSS CHATS TO LISA SALMON AHEAD OF HIS UK TOUR

- LISA SALMON

All the Goss

IT CAN'T be easy to reinvent yourself as a mature performer when you shot to fame as a teen idol adored by hordes of screaming teenage girls.

But Matt Goss has done it.

The singer who fronted the Eighties band Bros with his twin brother Luke, notching up hits including When Will I Be Famous? and I Owe You Nothing, went on to perform a solo show in Las Vegas for 11 years one of the longest residencies by a British artist in Vegas history and now, after a few years living back in his home town of London, has just released a new single, We Are Not Broken, and is about to embark on a UK tour, The Hits & More.

"I don't want to compartmentalise my career as in Bros, Matt Goss in Vegas," stresses Matt, 56.

"I've got many loves in music and I want to bring that to the stage. I want to feel like I'm considered at least as an artist - I don't want a free ride, but 38 years in the industry is a good amount of time to show your peers you're serious about what you're doing.

"I'm proud of what I've learned, and I'm proud of what I do for an audience. Anyone that's been to my show will usually leave feeling happy, and it's important as a musician to elevate people."

Since Bros split up in 1992, Matt has been a solo artist, and while he admits he loved being on stage with his brother, he also relishes the freedom of performing on his own.

"I was the lead singer in Bros, so I was always on the stage singing by myself, but having your family on stage, there's nothing better in the world," he reflects.
