TELECOMS LEAN IN ON AI STRATEGY
Bangkok Post
|December 19, 2025
The country's two major players are banking on artificial intelligence technology to propel their revenue and profit growth, writes Komsan Tortermvasana
The two major private telecom operators, Advanced Info Service (AIS) and True Corporation, have leveraged artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen operations and explore potential breakthroughs to generate new revenue streams.
AIS is positioning itself as a fully AI-driven intelligent enterprise under its long-term vision, "AI for a Sustainable Nation" True Corporation, the merged company of True and Total Access Communication (dtac), describes itself as an AI-first company applying AI capabilities across its operations, business planning and management.
THEN THERE WERE TWO
Sigve Brekke, group chief executive of True, said competition in the mobile service market remains tough, although only two major players remain. He said telecom operators must continue to grow and compete in the digital service segment with dominant global over-the-top platforms. Implementation of the AI-first strategy will enable True to offer agile customer services, rapidly adapt to changes and gain stronger long-term competitive advantages, according to the company.
